The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals offers or hosts a number of on-site classes on a variety of topics including rock and mineral identification, fossils, geohazards (landslides, volcanism, and earthquakes), plate tectonics, meteorite identification, and more.
On-site presentations by museum staff members can be customized for your group’s interests, age range, and size. From lecture formats to hands-on activities, we can address topics at all levels from kindergarten to collegiate. In addition, the Columbia-Willamette Faceter’s Guild offers classes in faceting using facilities and equipment at the Rice Museum. Several sessions of three and five week classes are offered from September to June. However, please note that classes for through June 2015 are filled.
