GROUP VISITS
The historic Rice Museum houses one of the world’s finest collections of rocks and minerals. With extensive galleries, touchable specimens, and skilled museum docents, we create a layered experience for visitors of all ages.
We offer both guided tour programs and unguided group visits.
Our building capacity allows us to accommodate up to 50 people per guided experience. For groups larger than 50 attendees please contact us at [email protected]
The Museum has limited accessibility. There is no food on-site, however an uncovered outdoor picnic area is available.
Tour leaders please read through our Tour Policies before booking your tour. After making your reservation, please share our Museum Rules with participants.

Self-Guided Small Groups of 1-14
Small groups may come in for unguided visits during normal business hours. Museum staff and volunteers are available to answer questions and point out items of interest throughout the facility. Admission is made on the day of your visit in the museum gift shop.
Self-Guided Large Groups of 15-25
$175 flat rate admission for unguided groups of 15-25 attendees when scheduled and paid in advance.
Payment is made at the time of scheduling through the website. There are no refunds.
Guided Group Experiences
$100 for 2-10 attendees (adults and children)
$200 for between 11-25 attendees (adults and children)
$350 for between 26-50 attendees (adults and children)
Guided Experience topics include rock and mineral formation, fossilization, geologic time, history of the museum and more! Group tours are available by pre-registration only. There are no refunds.
Our Free Tour Program will be back May-November 2025 with free guided tours AND unguided experiences! Guided tours will accommodate up to 20 people on specific days at 11 AM. Unguided experiences will allow 20 participants to explore the Museum at their own pace on designated days. Additionally, participants will have the flexibility to book at various times throughout these days. Free Tours and Unguided experiences will be available to book in April 2025!
