DIAMONDS & DIORITE: A MINECRAFT™ DAY

Step into the world of Minecraft™—and beyond! At this interactive event, kids and families can experience geology in real life through hands-on fun with rocks and minerals straight from the game’s universe.

  • Touch: Explore real specimens that match the ores and blocks you know from Minecraft™—handle, compare, and discover what they’re made of.
  • Learn: Dive into an exhibit that connects the game’s virtual landscapes to real-world geology.
  • Play: Hunt for clues in a scavenger hunt, crack open geodes, and build your own creations.
  • Watch: A Minecraft Movie at 12pm. Limited seating, must RSVP in advance. Register here.
  • Shop: Find Minecraft™-inspired gifts and souvenirs to continue the adventure at home.

Nifty Fifties Holiday Event

Step back in time and celebrate the charm of the 1950s at the Rice Museum’s Nifty Fifties Holiday Event, honoring the era when our historic house was built. Enjoy a day filled with retro holiday fun, hands-on activities, and nostalgic cheer.

  • Members can start the morning with an exclusive Science Lab session from 10–11 AM.
  • At 12pm, join us for a cozy screening of the classic holiday film It’s a Wonderful Life. Seating is limited to 50 guests—RSVP early to save your spot.
  • Throughout the event, get creative with holiday craft-making activities perfect for all ages, including ornament decorating and graham cracker house building.
  • Be sure to enter our raffle for a chance to win one of several festive gift baskets.

Come for the classic movie, stay for the crafts, and enjoy a jolly mid-century holiday experience at the museum!
